AN OFFICIAL of the Department of Health (DOH)-Zamboanga Peninsula said there are 13 persons under monitoring (PUMs) for coronavirus disease-2019 (Covid-19) in the region.

Dr. Dennis Dacayanan, head of DOH-9’s Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (Resu), said Saturday, February 15, that majority of the 13 PUMs have history of travel to China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Dacayanan said it is the policy of the DOH that anyone who visited or has a stop-over for one or two hours in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, will have to undergo home quarantine for 14 days.

Dacayanan added that Zamboanga Peninsula still has no persons under investigation (PUI) for Covid-19 as well as no confirmed case of the dreaded disease yet.

Covid-19, which emanated from Wuhan City, Hubei province, China, has spread to other countries, including the Philippines.

The DOH, City Health Office and the Bureau of Quarantine are working hand-in-hand with other concerned government agencies to prevent the entry of Covid-19 in this city and the region as well. (SunStar Zamboanga)
