JOINT police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives have arrested a drug surrenderer in a buy-bust operation in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, an official said Monday, December 14.

Police Major Gaspar Gadingan, chief of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office, identified the arrested suspect as Charito Nuevo Lawit, 39, a driver and a drug surrenderer.

Gadingan said Lawit was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 12:40 p.m. Sunday, December 13, in Purok San Francisco in Buenavista village, Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.

Recovered from Lawit were some P3,400 worth of shabu packed in five heat-sealed plastic sachets and P500 marked money.

The suspect was detained at the lock-up cell of PDEA in Pagadian City while formal charges are set to be filed against him. (SunStar Zamboanga)
