THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released some P3.4 million to beneficiaries of the agency’s Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) in Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.

Nursida Sarail, DSWD regional program coordinator, said Friday, November 5, that a total of 345 low-income individuals benefited from LAG. Each received P10,000.

Sarail said the LAG is one of the social amelioration programs of the DSWD in the implementation of the government subsidy program provided to families qualified as low-income households.

Sarail said such grant is provided to assist in the economic recovery and rehabilitation of the affected displaced families in the city.

She said the distribution of Lag to the identified recipients was held Thursday, November 4, at the gymnasium of the Basilan National High School.

Jaime Juanito Rivera, local economic development investment and promotions officer, who represented Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, joined Sarail in the payout of Lag to the recipients. (SunStar Zamboanga)
