A FORMER jail detainee was killed, while another survived although wounded in a drive-by gun attack in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported.

Galvez identified the victims as Joel Gallego, 39, and Jefty Tulba, 27, both former detainees of the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Jail.

Investigation showed the victims were riding a single motorcycle traveling from Barangay Poblacion, Margosatubig to Barangay Baluno Dimataling when repeatedly shot by one of two men who were onboard another motorcycle.

Gallego sustained four gunshot wounds in the body, resulting in his instantaneous death, while Tulba managed to escape although wounded.

WHERE’S THE WATER? Water is sparse at the Jaclupan wellfield in Talisay City in this photo provided by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) on Friday, April 26, 2024. Completed in 1998, MCWD’s Jaclupan facility, officially known as the Mananga Phase I Project, catches, impounds and pumps out around 30,000 cubic meters of water per day under normal circumstances. However, on Friday, MCWD spokesperson Minerva Gerodias said the facility’s daily production had plummeted to 8,000 cubic meters per day, or just about a quarter of its normal capacity, as Cebu grapples with the effects of the drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to persist until the end of May. The facility supplies water to consumers in Talisay City and Cebu City. /
