Ex-soldier, pal killed in gun attack

A RETIRED soldier and his companion were killed just after they delivered dried coconut kernels to a buying station in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Saturday, March 6, 2021.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened around 4:35 p.m. Friday at Zone 2, North Diversion Road in Tiguma village, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Duco identified the fatalities as the following: Cristino Ocquilan Agbulos, Jr., 48, a retired Army; and Leo Calunsag Carillo, 34.

He said the victims were seated in their respective parked vehicles when fatally shot by unidentified suspects.

Duco said the possible motive of the incident is robbery hold-up as the personal belongings of the victims were missing.

He said bystanders told the police of Pagadian City that the victims had just sold dried coconut kernel to a nearby buying station before the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
