IED explosion rocks Zamboanga Sibugay town

THE police are conducting an in-depth investigation to identify the people behind the twin explosions of an improvised explosive device (IED) near the residence of a government official in Zamboanga Sibugay on Sunday, January 6.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said militiaman assigned as security officer of Tungawan municipal councilor Lorverle Caracol heard two successive explosions around 10 p.m. Sunday at Purok Unity in the village of Masao, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Galvez said the blast site was a vacant lot just 25 meters away from the residence of Caracol.
