Militiaman dies in highway collision

A MILITIAMAN died while another was injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a motorcycle at the highway of Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Wednesday, July 17.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday in Datu Tangkilan village, Sindangan Zamboanga del Norte.

She identified the fatality as Ares Andus Mobad, 42, a militiaman in Maras village, Sindangan town.

Galvez said Mobad’s back rider, whose identity was not immediately available, sustained injury.

The police officer said investigation showed the victims were aboard a motorcycle when they collided with a passenger bus driven by Pablito Bartonico, Jr., 40, which was traveling to Dipolog City.
