Municipal council candidate nabbed for estafa

A CANDIDATE for municipal councilor was arrested in a manhunt operations in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, a top police official disclosed.

Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspect as Melicio Embate, Jr., 42, a resident of the village of Don Jose Aguirre, Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Licup said Embate was arrested in a manhunt operation by way of service of warrant of arrest around 11:25 a.m. Friday, April 5, in the village of Poblacion, Manukan.

Licup said Embate, who is seeking a seat in the municipal council of Manukan, has standing warrant of arrest for the crime of estafa with P12,000 recommended bail issued on March 25, 2019 by the Municipal Trial Court of Manukan.

He said the arrested suspect was detained at the police station of Manukan for proper disposition. (SunStar Philippines)
