NPA rebel surrenders in Zamboanga del Norte

A MEMBER of the New People’s Army (NPA) has surrendered to the government authorities in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Sunday, May 31, 2020.

Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the NPA surrenderer as Lumanag Mardencial Saplid, 56.

Quidilla said Saplid surrendered to the Zamboanga del Norte First Provincial Mobile Office Force around 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2020 at Purok Biwa in Pitik village, Leon Postigo.

Quidilla said Saplid has turned over a caliber .357 magnum revolver with five live ammunition.

He said Saplid is a member of Militia ng Bayan under the NPA’s Guerrilla Front Feliciano Alpha since 1995.

He said Saplid serves as information provider and courier of essential goods and food supplies of the NPA rebels.

He said that Saplid will be enrolled in the government’s Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and will be receiving a reintegration assistance, immediate assistance, livelihood assistance, and access to government services and medical assistance. (SunStar Zamboanga)
