NPA team leader surrenders

A TEAM leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) have surrendered to authorities in the province of Sultan Kudarat, the police reported.

Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, identified the NPA surrenderer as Randy Lagaro Lasib alias Ka Rudy, 44, team leader of Platoon Rayme under Guerrilla Front (GF) 76.

The GF 76 is under the Alip command of the NPA far South Mindanao Region operation in Sultan Kudarat, Davao del Sur, South Cotabato and North Cotabato.

Verceles said that Lasib surrendered Thursday, September 8, in Mayo village, Columbio, Sultan Kudarat province.

Verceles said that Lasib surrendered following negotiations initiated by Columio Mayor Tondatu Mangudadatu and policemen of Columio town and that of Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office.

He said Lasib turned over a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition and a grenade.

Verceles said that Lasib was placed under the custody of the Columbio Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
