THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula is joining the nationwide simultaneous walk for a cause in the region to show support to the re-launching of the Oplan Tokhang, the anti-illegal drug campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Dubbed as “Lakad (Lipulin at Kalampaging ang Droga) Tokhang”, the activity will be simultaneously held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 24.

For PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula, the activity will be held in this city and in the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City.

Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said the objective of the Lakad Tokhang is to raise awareness on the ill-effects of drugs and to encourage participants to actively join the national campaign against illegal drugs.

In this city, Beltran said the parade will start at Camp General Eduardo Batalla on R.T. Lim Boulevard and the culminating venue will be at Plaza Pershing downtown, where a short rally and sharing of insights will be held.

He said the participants of the one of a kind walk for a cause are the personnel of PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula headquarters, Zamboanga City Police Office, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council, City Government, students and non-government organizations.

He said the activity will be held in coordination with the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
