Schools receive garden tools for ‘Gulayan’ Program

THE Department of Agriculture (DA), through its High Value Crops Development Program, distributed sets of garden tools to teachers from different schools in the province of Zamboanga del Norte.

The DA said in a statement Thursday, June 16, that the recipients of the garden tools are the teachers comprising of two batches that have undergone training on vegetable production through the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP).

The training started Tuesday, June 14, and is set to end Friday, June 17. The training was held in Dipolog City, Zambonga del Norte.

The garden tools they received after the training consisted of 120–liter round tab, five sprinklers, five bolos, five hand trowels, a hand pressure sprayer, eight–liter pressure sprayer, a shovel, three seedling trays, one liter molasses, and two packs of eight-in-one vegetable seeds.

Each of the participants also received a certificate of completion.

The GPP is implemented in public elementary and high schools, and supported by the Department of Education and Department of Health-National Nutrition Council. (SunStar Zamboanga)
