Septuagenarian burned in an ‘intentional fire’

A SEPTUAGENARIAN was allegedly burned by his live-in-partner in a remote village in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported on Sunday, September 30.

The Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office identified the fatality as Braulio Palaran, 72, who suffered severe burns and hospitalized.

The police said the incident happened around 10 p.m., Saturday, September 29, in the village of Nipaan, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The police identified the suspect as Bonifacia Bandal, the victim’s live-in partner, who has gone into hiding after setting ablaze their house.

Investigation showed that prior to the incident, the relatives heard the victim and his live-in partner were having heated arguments around 8 p.m. of the same night.

After few hours late, the police said they saw a fire engulfed and razed the house of Palaran, which was made of light materials.

The police said Palaran was seen lying on the ground with burns over his body when the victim’s relatives checked the site of the fire.

The police said they rushed Palaran to the Sindangan District Hospital for medication.

The police said they are tracking the whereabouts of Bandal, who fled after the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
