Septuagenarian falls from coconut tree, dies

A SEPTUAGENARIAN coconut wine (fermented coconut juice) gatherer died after he fell from a coconut tree in Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Monday, July 9.

The Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office identified the victim as Rasonable Turbanos, 79, a resident of Purok 7 in the village of Balabawan, Pitogo.

The police said Turbanos was found dead in a grassy area near a coconut tree by his son, Ricky, 37, who went to the house of his father to help pasture farm animals.

The older Turbanos was living alone in his residence and earns by selling fermented coconut juice and farming.

The police said the victim died due to severe concussion and head trauma based on the findings of the municipal health officer of Pitogo. (SunStar Philippines)
