SPES beneficiaries to start receiving salary

THE City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) announced that the salary of the first batch of Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries is set to be released anytime this week.

CSWDO chief Socorro Rojas said the first batch of salary payment will cover the 1,400 college students hired under the SPES, who worked for a 20-day period in various capacities with the City Government from April to May.

Rojas said the beneficiaries will receive P5,736 for the 20-day work period.

“They will receive P5,736 which is the 60 percent counterpart of the local government,” Rojas said.

She said the Department of Labor and Employment shouldered the remaining 40 percent of the salary.

In total, SPES beneficiaries will receive a salary of P9,554.00 for the 20-day work period.

Meanwhile, Rojas said the second batch of SPES beneficiaries have completed their work period on Monday, June 4.
