Village exec killed in drive-by gun attack

A VILLAGE official was killed in a drive-by gun attack in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Tuesday, December 29.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 28, in Purok Avocado in Kawayan village, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Duco identified the fatalilty as Amin Gampal, a councilor in the village of Minundas, Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Investigation showed that Gampal was driving a motorcycle when fatally shot by one of two motorcycle-riding gunmen who tailed the victim.

The village official died instantaneously and the gunmen fled after the incident.

Duco said personnel of Alicia Municipal Police Station are conducting thorough investigation to identify and locate the gunmen. (SunStar Zamboanga)
