Village exec slain in Basilan

A VILLAGE official was shot and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in the island province of Basilan, the police said.

The Isabela City Police Station identified the victim as Hadji Hamsain Nasirin, the barangay chairperson of Bulan-Bulan, Lantawan, Basilan.

The police said the incident happened at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Purok 1 in Tabuk village, Isabela City.

Investigation showed that coming from a mosque, Nasirin was on his way to a car wash center to get his motorcycle when two men aboard a motorcycle arrived and shot twice with a caliber .45 pistol the village official. The suspects sped off after the incident.

The police said that Nasirin sustained two bullet wounds in the head that caused his instantaneous death.

Investigation continue in a bid to establish the motive as well as the identities of the suspects. (SunStar Philippines)
