THE Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) and the Rotary Club of Zamboanga City-West (RCZC-West) donated to the City Government seven handwashing stations for use at the public markets in support of the city's intensified campaign against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Five of the seven handwashing stations were installed at the Waterfront Public Market, one at the Sta. Cruz Commercial Complex and one at the Sta. Cruz Bagsakan Center.

Vice Mayor Rommel Agan received the donations on behalf of Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar from the ZCWD Board of Directors Chairperson Jose Vicente Atilano III and the RCZC-West President Gil Lim during the turnover Wednesday, December 2.

The project was initiated and funded by the ZCWD and the RCZC-West as a way of helping the community combat Covid-19.

Lim said the activity also forms part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the RCZC-West.

Atilano said the handwashing station was built to offer easy access and use by people and is operated by foot pedal for hands-free washing.

Handwashing forms part of the minimum health standards to prevent Covid-19 transmission. (SunStar Zamboanga)
