THE Zamboanga City Council was chosen as a national finalist in the 2018 Local Legislative Award organized by the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The award recognizes the exemplary performance of councils, particularly of cities and municipalities, for legislating measures that help build the foundation of meaningful local administration and development.

The awarding rites was held June 19, 2019 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City coinciding with the 2019 End Term Assembly of the PCL.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar recognized the City Council’s achievements through Councilor Cesar Jimenez, Sr.

In 2014 during Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde's first term, the city council was the national winner in the 2014 Local Legislative Award for highly urbanized cities category. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
