THE local government of Zamboanga City, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), resumed Friday, June 24, the distribution of the Local Social Amelioration Program (LSAP) to senior citizens.

Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar on Friday led the distribution of cash assistance to senior citizens under the LSAP at the Santa Maria Covered Court.

The LSAP forms part of the Covid-19 response initiated by the Salazar administration and is intended to help alleviate the plight of those greatly affected by the pandemic.

“As I end my term, hopefully all the assistance programs that we started will be continued,” Salazar told senior citizens.

She urged them to remain focused on their well-being by submitting themselves for vaccination, both the primary and booster doses as well as to avail of anti-flu shots and other medical assistance that are given out for free.

For the distribution in Sta. Maria, a total of 2,477 senior citizens from 11 villages under CSWDO Field Office 3 are to receive the cash aid as a form of assistance for individuals in crisis situations.

The resumption of the LSAP rollout, facilitated by the CSWDO will continue until June 25, 26 and 27 in different venues. (SunStar Zamboanga)
