THE Zamboanga City Government has formally turned over to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) a newly constructed fire sub-station on Saturday, June 3, in Talon-Talon village, Zamboanga City.

Costing P7.2 million, the fire sub-station project was completed in a record-breaking period of five months.

It has an area of 128 square meters and is constructed on a 519-square-meter government property in Talon-Talon village.

Mayor John Dalipe and Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja led the turnover of the newly completed project and was received by Superintendent Christopher Morales, the city fire marshal.

Dalipe said his campaign promises are now being fulfilled with the support and collaboration of all sectors concerned.

"This project of the local government is to protect houses, edifices, and the residents of the city,” Dalipe said.

He likewise reaffirmed utmost support to the BFP, as he promised to immediately deploy one firetruck from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to the Talon-Talon fire sub-station so it can effectively and efficiently respond in times of emergencies.

Morales thanked Dalipe and the City Government for the project, which he said is another step of making the community safer.

He said the facility in Talon-Talon is the 22nd fire sub-station strategically located in Zamboanga City, bringing services nearer to the people and ensuring that the BFP can effectively and efficiently perform its duties in responding to emergencies. (SunStar Zamboanga)
