Zamboanga City gov’t unveils 3rd evacuation center

THE Zamboanga City Government has unveiled on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, the evacuation center for the Santa Maria cluster, the third facility to be inaugurated in line with its thrust on disaster preparedness.

The evacuation center worth P5.35 million was built in Pasonanca village.

The project intended to cater to residents of Cabatangan, Tumaga, Dulian-Upper Pasonanca, San Roque, Santa Maria and Pasonanca in times of calamities or disasters.

Mayor John Dalipe has urged the villages concerned to take good care of the facility and to make sure that it serves its intended purpose, as he promised to pursue the construction of more evacuation centers in other villages to provide safe harbor to people affected by calamities.

Dalipe and Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja led the turnover ceremony of the project.

Clint Senosa of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said the Pasonanca evacuation center is the third out of 12 clustered-evacuation facilities lined up for implementation.

The first two facilities unveiled were in Vitali for the Vitali cluster and in Curuan for the Curuan cluster.

Up for implementation soon are the evacuation centers for the Tetuan, Talon-Talon and Baliwasan clusters. (SunStar Zamboanga)
