ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar vowed to work harder in her third and last term focusing attention to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification as well as the improvement of health services.

Salazar said the welfare of the workers is among her top priorities in addition to her priority thrusts on security, health and education while addressing the city government employees during the flag ceremony, Monday, May 20.

Salazar won her bid for re-election with an overwhelming mandate in the recently concluded May 13 mid-term elections.

“It’s nice to be back and as we start this Monday, we offer all our gratitude to God and Nuestra Señora La Virgen,” she said after city government employees led by the Human Resource and Management Office and the department heads accorded her a simple fete welcoming her re-election.

“I am very humbled to be given one more term by the people of Zamboanga, and rest assured we will work very hard to also have our ISO accreditation in the City Government and also I would want to work on the improvement of health services,” she added.

WHERE’S THE WATER? Water is sparse at the Jaclupan wellfield in Talisay City in this photo provided by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) on Friday, April 26, 2024. Completed in 1998, MCWD’s Jaclupan facility, officially known as the Mananga Phase I Project, catches, impounds and pumps out around 30,000 cubic meters of water per day under normal circumstances. However, on Friday, MCWD spokesperson Minerva Gerodias said the facility’s daily production had plummeted to 8,000 cubic meters per day, or just about a quarter of its normal capacity, as Cebu grapples with the effects of the drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to persist until the end of May. The facility supplies water to consumers in Talisay City and Cebu City. /
