Zamboanga City records another Covid-19 case

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, chairperson of the inter-agency task force on coronavirus disease (Covid-19), revealed Monday, March 30, another confirmed case of Covid-19 in Zamboanga City.

Salazar said the second confirmed case was among the patient under investigation (PUI) listed in the city and was admitted at the West Metro Medical Center's isolation room.

Salazar said the confirmed case is a 48-year-old female from the village of Barangay Tumaga with history of travel from Manila.

The mayor said the patient will be transferred soon to the government-owned Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC), which will open on April 6 as a referral center to treat confirmed cases and PUIs with moderate to severe symptoms for Covid-19.

With this development, Zamboanga City now has a total of two confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The first confirmed case for Covid-19 is a 29-year-old male resident of the village of Sinunuc with travel history from Manila.

Meanwhile, Salazar advised the residents to remain calm and not to panic. (SunStar Zamboanga)
