AUTHORITIES are set to remove the quarantine checkpoints in compliance to a resolution seeking to expedite transport of goods and improve traffic flow.

A recent resolution of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (RIATF-EID) said only quarantine checkpoints in city and provincial boundaries will be retained.

Councilor Josephine Pareja, chairperson of the City Council’s committee on peace and order, said only the security checkpoints that were established upon the declaration of martial law in Mindanao on May 23, 2017 will be retained.

Pareja said the security checkpoints are located in Limpapa village, boundary with Zamboanga del Norte. and Licomo village, boundary with Zamboanga Sibugay.

Pareja said the other security checkpoints are located in the villages of Curuan, Sangali, Divisoria and Calarian.

Pareja said a quarantine pass would still be required from residents even after the quarantine checkpoints are dismantled. (SunStar Zamboanga)
