Zamboanga del Sur town employee hurt in gun attack

A MUNICIPAL Government employee was shot and wounded by three gunmen, while one of the suspects was arrested in a follow-up operation in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Tuesday, July 14.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the victim as Ruel Tomo Mogalin, 43, an employee of San Miguel Municipal Government.

Galvez said the incident took place around 9 a.m. Monday in Purok 5 Langilan village, San Miguel, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Galvez identified the suspects as Mando Relampago, Sopriano Diringan, and Rosendo Suela.

Galvez said investigation showed that the victim was driving a motorcycle on the way to the town hall when the gunmen shot him.

She said the motive of the incident was political rivalry in the village of Langilan, San Miguel.

She said one of the gunmen, Diringan, was arrested in a police follow-up operations, while the other two remain at large. (SunStar Zamboanga)
