CULIACAN, Mexico -- Police have found the bodies of 12 men piled in the bed of an abandoned pickup truck in northern Mexico.

The bodies showed signs of torture and some had burn marks.

They were found early Monday in a mountain town in the northern state of Sinaloa.

Sinaloa Gov. Mario Lopez Valdez says the motive in the killings is still under investigation.

Three other bodies were found in a nearby town.

Sinaloa is home to the drug cartel of the same name, considered Mexico's most powerful. (AP)
