4,000 village polls bet face disqualification

Sunnexdesk

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has initiated disqualification cases against some 4,000 candidates, who are running for their fourth or fifth term, for Monday’s barangay elections.

The poll body said a barangay official is only allowed to serve up to three consecutive terms.

A Sangguniang Kabataan official, on the other hand, is allowed to serve only one term.

The poll body has instructed teachers serving the elections to mark with an asterisk the names of the candidates with disqualification cases.

If the candidate wins, his or her proclamation will be suspended while his disqualification case is being heard. (Sunnex)
