THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental installed yesterday, June 13, 53 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Bago City covering an awarded land of 75 hectares under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

The land, located at Hacienda Pacita in Barangay Don Jorge Araneta, was previously owned by Juan Jalandoni and Jalsor Real Estate Development Corporation.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Rutchel Ornillo, in a press statement, said the installation completes the land transfer process for the beneficiaries.

Ornillo reminded the beneficiaries to protect the “opportunity” of cultivating their own land.

She also assured that the agency will continue to support all farmer-beneficiaries as mandated by Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones.

For her part, Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Rosario Norbe has reminded the newly installed farmers of their obligations such as payment of taxes to the local government and land amortization to the Land Bank of the Philippines.

Farmers, on the other hand, thanked the agency for helping them own and possess their land after years of waiting. (EPN)
