Micro coops in Negros Occidental get financial aid

FOUR micro cooperatives in Negros Occidental that were severely affected by Typhoon Odette have receive financial assistance from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), under the Special Assistance for Recovery and Alleviation Program.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and CDA Assistant Secretary Myrla Paradillo lead the turnover of the assistance to the beneficiaries in rites held at the covered court of Barangay 9 in Kabankalan City on Thursday, February 17.

The recipients who received P100,000 each included Gil Montilla Agrarian Reform Cooperative, San Jose Villa Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and Sitio Flora Agrarian Reform Cooperative.

The Pulupandan Transport Sector Consumers Cooperative, meanwhile, received P50,000.

The CDA’s program aims to help the micro cooperatives recover and rise amid the challenges brought by climate change.

Lacson thanked the CDA for the committed effort in the promotion of the sustained growth and full development of the micro cooperatives.

“The distribution of financial assistance will further our goal to strengthen the capacities of our people, as an empowered people, which is the basic element of development,” he added.

Also present in the activity were Sixth District Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz II, and CDA - Western Visayas Director Nora Patron, among others. (PR)
