The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental is expected to generate about P93,000 in sales through the province's Liquid Nitrogen Plant during the first four months of the year.

PVO Tuesday, May 15 said that out of P93,000, only P13,875 was paid. The remaining P79,125 are yet to be collected.

From January to April this year, PVO has catered to seven clients, from government and private sectors, which purchased 29 mother tanks or 93 liters of liquid nitrogen.

The plant, located at Negros First Ranch in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Murcia town started its operation last January.

This is a joint project between the provincial government and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Unit 6.

Placeda Lemana, chief of the farm management division of PVO, said the plant addresses the need to saturate areas with frozen semen of farm animals used for breeding and upgrading, and to produce quality stocks with higher milk and meat yield in shorter time.

"This is also to increase the food animal population in the province especially cattle, carabao, and sheep," she said.

Implemented under the Provincial Animal Genetic Improvement Project, PVO sells the liquid nitrogen at P75 per liter or P3,000 per mother tank as provided by Provincial Ordinance 17-001.
