MANILA -- Classes in public and private elementary and high schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) were cancelled Tuesday.

The directive was issued by Department of Education-NCR Regional Diretor Elena Ruiz after a meeting with education officials Tuesday morning.

In Marikina City, classes in colleges and universities were also cancelled due to heavy rains. Officials, reports said, have been monitoring the water level at the Marikina River.

There is also no work in government offices, particularly in northern Luzon provinces that were hit by Super Typhoon Juan. (Sunnex)
