Escudero to Deles: Be more humble

Sunnexdesk

MANILA -- Senator Francis Escudero advised Presidential Peace Adviser Teresita Deles Tuesday to practice humility after she allegedly raised her voice at a member of Congress.

He said a House resolution calling for Deles’s removal from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (Opapp) and a proposal to grant the Opapp a one-peso budget should serve as a wake-up call.

Escudero said if the peace adviser cannot even get along with members of the government, she cannot hope to win over insurgents and rebels.

“It’s the President’s choice. If he’s using her as the pillar for peace initiatives in Mindanao, then it’s doomed to fail if she keeps on talking and acting this way," the senator warned.

Deles has been criticized by members of the House of Representatives for allegedly getting into a heated argument with Representative Aliah Dimaporo (second district, Lanao del Norte).

She allegedly threw insulting remarks at Dimaporo. But she denied the incident on the official government website, saying she even engaged Dimaporo in "a cordial exchange of ideas”. (Jonathan de Santos/Sunnex)
