THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday showed to members of media the newly renovated custodial center where the high profile personalities allegedly involved in the pork barrel scam will be held.

Each of the four detention cells will have beds, a side table, an electric fan, two units of fluorescent lamps and a toilet and bath.

The rooms, which were originally designed as quarters for custodial services officers, will served as temporary detention cells of the individuals who were charged in the pork barrel scam, including Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon Revilla Jr.

Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP Public Information Office chief, said the facility was not intentionally renovated to accommodate the three beleaguered lawmakers.

"It is a part of the improvement program of the PNP Custodial Center for their custodial service unit officers' quarters, it just happen that we need more detention cell for the possible detainees kaya they were instructed na i-vacate muna ito nang mga opisyal," he said.

Sindac said the visitors of the detainees would be allowed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. (Monday to Friday) and similar to other ordinary inmates, the detained officials will not be allowed to use electronic gadgets such as cellular phones, laptops and portable wifi devices.

The PNP custodial center compound has served as the detention center to other arrested high profile criminals such as kidnappers, New People’s Army leaders and members of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf. (Sunnex)
