His entry into sports-writing began with the piece, “A First for Cebu Tennis,” which appeared in The Freeman on Sept. 21, 1994. Thanks to the invitation of The Freeman’s sports editor, Nimrod Quiñones, he started a weekly column. This lasted for eight years.

After a brief hiatus, he moved to Sun.Star Cebu, this time with the column title, “Match Point.” His first article, on Nov. 18, 2003, was about tennis ace Andy Roddick. He named his comeback story, “Back to the Future.”

Since then, he has broadened his coverage to include running, the NBA, mountain-biking, Cebu City sports, and Roger vs. Rafa. He also maintains a website (“Cebu Sports Blog”) where, alongside his Sun.Star stories, he posts photos and videos.
