My blood, Your life

THE Rotary Club of Bacolod Marapara, in partnership with the Philippine National Red Cross and the Philippine National Police, held a major bloodletting activity recently at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr., (NPPCO), Bacolod City.

Under the theme “Dugo ko, Kabuhi Mo” (My blood, Your life) some 115 police trainees and officers donated blood. 88 units of blood were collected.

Said club president, Trixie Villavicencio: “A reliable blood supply is essential for our health system, especially at this time of so many cases of dengue fever. We are pleased to have this opportunity to make a contribution.

“I would like to thank the Red Cross, the PNP and our members for helping to make this such a successful activity.”

Apart from medical programs, the club undertakes a number of community outreach activities each year. Its main fund-raising event is the annual “Rotary Golf for a Cause” tournament held at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club, Bacolod City.
