A TOTAL of 14 fruit vendors in Bacolod City secured special permits to sell on the Gonzaga Street side of the public plaza for the holidays.

Executive assistant Ernesto Pineda, chief coordinator of Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force, said on Sunday, December 16, only 14 vendors applied for special permits at the Government Center.

He said the fruits vendors will construct their own stalls in the area.

“As soon as they have their stalls, they can start to sell their products,” he added.

Pineda noted that the task force will be deployed to monitor the area.

Meanwhile, Pineda said he already coordinated with the City Legal Office to regulate the fruit vendors in the downtown area.

"The fruit vendors cannot extend their stalls since we are implementing the ‘one meter by one meter’ space at the downtown areas," he said.

Pineda said there is no approval from the City Government that the sidewalk vendors can extend their stalls. (MAP)
