2 nabbed for Comelec gun ban in Negros Occidental

TWO persons were arrested for violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban in Negros Occidental Tuesday, January 14.

In Talisay city, Niel Malaga, 48, of Barangay Zone 3, was arrested by police for alleged alarm and scandal at their residence.

Police seized from him a caliber .38 revolver tucked on his waist with six live ammunition.

In Bacolod City, Hermil June Flores, 26, of Barangay 35, was arrested in a police checkpoint in Barangay Granada.

He was allegedly caught carrying a shotgun while on board a tricycle.

He was detained at Police Station 5.

The police and Comelec started to implement the gun ban on Sunday, January 13, as the election period begins. (Christopher D. Yanson, CHMSC-Talisay intern)
