2nd gun ban violator in Bacolod nabbed

ANOTHER gun ban violator was arrested at the Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City early Tuesday morning, April 17.

Police identified the suspect as Emon Degamo, 35, of the said village.

Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Degamo was reported by concerned citizens after he was sighted carrying a firearm in the said area around 1 a.m.

Police recovered from his possession a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with four live cartridges.

He is detained at Police Station Eastern Visayas.

Over the weekend, Police Station Central Visayas also collared Alex Mendis, 39, of La Salle Ville Subdivision, Barangay Mansilingan, after he was caught in possession of a 10-inch jungle knife and 12-inch scythe upon entering the Panaad Park and Stadium around 8:20 p.m.

Ebreo said both will be charged with violation of the Commission on Elections gun ban, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and illegal possession of deadly weapons.
