THE four individuals who earlier tested positive for the Delta variant of Sars-CoV-2 in Bacolod City have tested negative for the virus based on their latest reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result, an official said.

City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of Emergency Operations Center (EOC), said Monday, August 30, that based on the latest RT-PCR test results of the four women, including the 55-year-old from Barangay Villamonte, 78-year-old from Barangay Singcang-Airport, 25-year-old from Barangay Taculing, and the 31-year-old from Villa Angela Phase II-B, Barangay Vista Alegre, they already tested negative for the virus.

She said all of the 18 close contacts of the patients also turned negative for the virus.

She said that on August 28, they received confirmation from the Philippine Genome Center that four new individuals in Bacolod City have tested positive for Delta variant and on the following day, they conducted the repeat swab test on the four patients where its negative test result was also released in the afternoon.

In July, the Department of Health-Western Visayas sent a total of 166 samples to the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) for confirmation whether there are positive for the Delta variant.

Ang said this brought to a total of 10 Delta variant cases recorded in Bacolod City and all of them already recovered.

Bacolod City earlier recorded six Delta variant cases that included a six-month-old boy, a resident of Barangay Bata; a 45-year-old man, a resident of Barangay Villamonte; a three-year-old boy, a 63-year-old woman, both residents of Barangay Mansilingan; a 71-year-old male resident of Barangay Banago; and the 32-year-old pregnant woman from Barangay Sum-ag.

Ang said there is nothing to worry about because all of them have already recovered and have completed the mandatory quarantine and isolation.

As of August 29, Bacolod City had a total of 16,596 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 15,337 patients already recovered, 864 were active cases with 392 deaths.
