9 soldiers receive medal for combat

NINE soldiers received medals for demonstrating exemplary actions during encounters against the Communist New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists in the area of operations of 94th Infantry (Mandirigma) Battalion, Philippine Army (94IB).

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, pinned them the Military Commendation Medals (MCM) during the awarding rites held at the Barangay Tambo hall, Ayungon, Negros Oriental near the Headquarters of 94IB on May 7.

On April 30, 2020, the joint AFP-PNP elements of 94IB and PNP personnel of Bindoy Municipal Police Station while conducting community security patrols clashed with undetermined number of NPA terrorists in Sitio Namunduan, Brgy Cambudlas, Bindoy, Negros Oriental.

The said encounter resulted in the minor wounding of one soldier while two NPA members killed.

Pasaporte lauded the bravery and selfless dedication of the operating troops to secure and protect the community of Bindoy.

“The medal symbolizes your bravery in facing our enemy and selfless dedication on your oath to protect the people and the country. As your Brigade Commander, I want to recognize your collective efforts and may this simple occasion motivate you to do more and perform well on your next mission. Let us continue our efforts in going after the Communist NPA Terrorists and show to them the true grit of 94th Infantry ‘Mandirigma’ Battalion,” Pasaporte added.
