MAJOR General Dinoh Dolina, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army in Western Visayas, condemned the killing of a former Revolutionary Proletarian Army (RPA) member and a civilian in Negros Island this week.

The latest victims of the attacks allegedly perpetrated by the New People’s Army (NPA) were former RPA member Jonybert Sabico, 40, of Barangay Tampalon; and Reynaldo Loque-Loque, 30, of Barangay Nalundan in Bindoy, Negros Oriental, a press release from the Philippine Army said.

“This is a very serious human rights matter wherein Communist Party of the Philippines- NPA terrorists boastfully claiming the responsibility of killing civilians,” Dolina said.

Dolina said the rebels and its support groups keep saying they are freedom fighters and human rights defenders, but their words are in contrary to their deeds.

These are deceptive slogans designed to mislead the people, he added.

“The truth here is they don’t value human rights and human life. They are the true murderers and human rights violators,” he said.

Meanwhile, the army commander called on the Negrenses to continue cooperating with the government troops by providing information and whereabouts of the rebels. (GYM)
