Bacolod barangay secretary dies of Covid

A SECRETARY of Barangay Bata in Bacolod City died due to Covid-19 on Saturday, May 1, 2021, a local executive said.

Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran on Monday said the village secretary underwent swab testing on Friday and its positive result was released on Saturday.

He said the barangay hall was already placed under lockdown starting Monday.

Barangay Bata Captain Lito Abaring, in a radio interview, said disinfection was already conducted and their barangay hall will be placed under lockdown for five days.

Abaring said their barangay secretary died on May 1 and was cremated in the afternoon.

He clarified that the barangay secretary experienced symptoms and did not report since April 19.

As of May 1, Bacolod City had a total of 7,525 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 6,436 patients already recovered, 873 were active cases and 216 were deaths.
