Bacolod coop leaders, staff undergo orientation seminar

ROEL Venus, chief of Consumer Services Division of Central Negros Electric Cooperative, was resource speaker in the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Centre (CCLDO), in cooperation with the Negros Educators and Advocacy Cooperative (NEAC) and Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) seminar on Fundamentals of Cooperative among Bacolod City coop leaders and management staff on August 9 to 10, at the Mayfair Plaza, 13th Street, Bacolod City.

Venus discussed about cooperatives, its origin, values and principles, difference, overall direction of coop, strategic planning, vision, mission, goals, coop plans, program and policies.

He also tackled the under pinning laws covering the salient features of Republic Act 9520, its implementing rules and regulations, among others.

Venus is a national awardee as the youngest cooperative chairperson of a multi-millionaire coop. He is presently a part-time faculty member of University of St. La Salle and La Consolacion College Bacolod for college and graduate school programs, and an accredited CDA speaker and trainer for cooperatives. He was also the former chairperson of the Ceneco Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Cempco) from 2005-2008 and 2014-1016.

This seminar on Fundamentals of Cooperative is a CDA-mandatory training for newly elected coop officers and existing officers who have not yet undergone this mandate. “This is very useful for both officers and management staff especially rudimentary topics about cooperatives are explained to all participants”, he said.
