Bacolod Council condemns killing of Moises Padilla councilor

THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution condemning the killing of Councilor Jose Antonio Garcia and his uncle former Liga ng mga Barangay president Jose Marcelino Garcia of the Moises Padilla town and expressing deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Em Ang, was approved during the regular session on Thursday.

Ang said the members of the Philippine Councilors League – Bacolod condemn the killing of the fellow councilor and his uncle, and pray for the speedy investigation on the incident so that justice may be served.

On April 25, Councilor Garcia and his uncle along with their party were campaigning in Barangay Inolingan of the said municipality when about twenty unidentified men on board a vehicle and a motorcycle fired at them at close range.

Ang said the City Council deeply mourns the passing of Councilor Garcia and offers a minute of silent prayer for the eternal repose of his soul.

Moreover, Councilor Caesar Distrito also manifested that the resolution will be submitted to the Office of President Rodrigo Duterte for the speedy investigation on the incident. (MAP)
