THE Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Task Force Extraction cluster team will file a case against 10 Covid-19 patients who refused to be transferred to the city’s quarantine facility.

Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda, head of EOC task force extraction, said they already forwarded the blotter reports to the City Legal Office (CLO) Wednesday, June 16, 2021, for the filing of cases against the 10 Covid-19 patients who refused to be extracted from their homes.

He said the 10 Covid-19 patients refused to leave their houses since last week and do not want to be transferred to the city’s quarantine facility.

Pineda stressed that non-cooperation violated Section 9 of the Republic Act 11332, otherwise known as the "Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases.”

“Pertinently, the said law states that non-cooperation of the person or entities identified as having the notifiable disease or affected by the health event of public concern. Non-cooperation of persons and entities that should report and/or respond to notifiable diseases or health events of public concern,” Pineda said.

If the Covid-19 patients already finished the 14-day isolation, he said the CLO will still push through the case against them.

He added refusing extraction and staying at the positive patient's residence will cause hazardous exposure of household members, resulting in the spread of Covid-19 infections to more people.

Pineda said most Covid-19 patients were cooperating with the extraction team and all of them were transferred to the city’s quarantine facility.

As of June 15, Bacolod City had a total of 11,440 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 9,227 patients already recovered, 1,920 were active cases and 290 were deaths.
