BACOLOD Mayor-elect Alfredo "Albee" Benitez said he will present the members of the Truth Commission that he will be creating on June 28.

Benitez, on the sidelines of the State of the District Address of his brother, Third District Representative Jose Francisco "Kiko" Benitez, on Saturday, June 18, at Magikland in Silay City, said heading the commission will be a former state auditor.

While he did not name the appointee, he said the commission will be under the City Legal Office.

Benitez has emphasized the need for the creation of the "truth commission" so that his administration would start clean in implementing programs and projects for Bacolod City.

Earlier, outgoing Mayor Evelio Leonardia said, "We have nothing to hide so let it go where it may go, no problem with that."

Leonardia emphasized that it has been his cardinal rule to obey what is required by the law or by the Commission on Audit (COA) in terms of accountability.

Benitez and members of his Team Asenso, who won in the May 9 elections in Bacolod City, will have their inauguration on July 1 at the Bacolod Government Center.

Meanwhile, Benitez said the incoming administration of President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has assured support for Bacolod City under his administration.

Benitez got the assurance of Marcos in a meeting held in Manila last week.

"We discussed about housing... We discussed several plans on how to solve the housing backlogs," said Benitez, who is one of the key congressmen that approved the creation of the Department of Housing.
