Cop could face charges after testing positive for illegal drugs

A COP from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) is in hot water after he tested positive for illegal drug use.

Crime Laboratory-Region VI chief Colonel Enrique Ancheta said one of five police officers from Nocppo tested positive for illegal drugs when they conducted a random drug test earlier this month.

The cop, a male Police Corporal, had tested positive both during the preliminary and confirmatory test.

Nocppo deputy spokesperson Police Lieutenant Abegail Donasco said the provincial police headquarters has yet to receive the endorsement from Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas regarding the findings.

Donasco said another confirmatory testing will be performed if he is indeed positive.

If proven, Donasco said the cop could face charges of grave misconduct and he will ultimately be dismissed from the service.
