THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has allocated P23 million for the rehabilitation of the Bacolod public plaza.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the project was implemented by the City Engineer’s Office and the contractor already started the repair or rehabilitation at the public plaza.

He said there is a requirement by the DBM that by November 30, the local government units that received such project should start implementing the projects.

Aside from Bacolod City, Leonardia said the DBM also funded the projects in some cities in various regions.

The mayor said the implementation of the project was delayed due to the celebration of MassKara Festival.

Leonardia said part of the rehabilitation is to replace the black and white of the plaza’s ground, the walkway, and the lighting system in the area, among others.

“It will take a year to rehabilitate the public plaza,” he said.

In 2017, the National Government also allotted P9.8 million for the repair of the plaza’s fountains, railings, and benches.

The project was implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways through Representative Greg Gasataya.
