A FARMER hanged himself after he stabbed his wife in Barangay Banog-banog, Isabela town, Negros Occidental on Sunday, March 27, 2022.

Isabela town deputy police chief Lieutenant Dante Balenario said Ricardo Deniega, 32, of Sitio Amumuka, Barangat Banog-banog, was reportedly suffering from depression.

Investigation showed that around 4 a.m., Deniega’s wife, Lynlyn, 28, woke up and saw her husband leaving their house. She then followed him.

When Deniega saw his wife, he repeatedly stabbed her, but she was able to seek help from their neighbors, who brought her to the Luz-Sikatuna Community Primary Hospital in Barangay Luz, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

While Deniega’s wife is being treated at the hospital, the suspect was later found hanging from a tree about 1.5 kilometers from their house by their neighbors, Balenario added.

The suspect’s body was brought to Leo Nalagon Funeral Homes, while his wife was transferred at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City for further treatment.
